A therapy session that includes horses can look very different than or very similar to a “traditional” talk based therapy session. Trauma Focused-Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (TF-EAP) centralizes connected relationships and principles over specific techniques. No horse experience is necessary. Almost 100% of the work with horses is on the ground-any riding will first be discussed and incorporated into your treatment plan as clinically indicated.
My work focuses on relationships; I see therapy as a partnership. Part of the therapeutic process is an ongoing dialogue about what is making a difference, or not, for you and your family. I believe in research and the fact that numbers speak. I administer treatment/outcome measures throughout the therapeutic process to help measure progress and inform our work together.
Our first meeting together will look very much like traditional therapy, as I administer measures and obtain information for a Biopsychosocial Assessment. This will allow me to gather all needed information for a diagnosis and treatment plan. During your second session, I will review with you, your treatment plan, which will help to guide treatment.
I am not in network with any insurance companies. I believe in doing what is right by each individual that I serve. Unfortunately, contracting with insurance companies gives them the control over your treatment and negates my clinical judgement honed over more than 20 years of experience. I am happy to provide a "super bill" for services that you may file with your insurance company. I however, cannot guarantee insurance reimbursement for services.
I provide an Initial biopsychosocial assessment, Individual and Family therapy at a rate of $160/hour. Payment is due at the time of service.
